That’s the title of this article and I’m sticking to it.
For most pitchers, this wouldn’t be a problem:
However, for Aroldis Chapman, who’s thing is throwing the ball really hard, this is a problem.
The Reds will be giving Aroldis Chapman a couple of days off to see if his velocity comes back, but this could be:
- An Off Day –phew
- An Injury — crap.
- He’s tired — In APRIL?!?!
…and now for the unintentionally hilarious quote from Dusty Baker:
Chapman said he was OK, which is what they say in Cuban baseball. They’re always OK. We took precaution and took him out, because the last couple of days, he wasn’t throwing quite like Chapman.
He said he was fine and threw well in the ‘pen. On the board, you see 91-92 like we saw yesterday. You say maybe it’s more than just a one-day thing. But this is what we’ve been trying to figure out and find out the whole time, how much can you pitch him?
Are we sure Dusty isn’t Cuban? Poor Kerry Wood and Mark Prior, all they had to do was tell Dusty that they were ….okay (or be Cuban).
By the way, I think it’s awesome that BrooksBaseball decided that all of Chapman’s pitches were change-ups. Anyways, this definitely doesn’t bode well for Chapman’s eventual transition into a starting pitcher…
