Man-God Peter Gammons On Wieters

If nothing else, Peter Gammons has remained incredibly relevant.  It actually blows my mind that he’s maintained such a strong following, and is still largely viewed as THE INSIDER, in the Internet age.  Good on ‘em for that.  I do predict a complete mental break-down shortly though, it happens to everyone after a certain age.  Gammons however has somehow managed to avoid Andy Rooney land.

Sunday night on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight, Gammons admitted he’d had a quick talk with Orioles’ Manager, Dave Trembley. Apparently the knicked up Wieters has had his MLB timetable moved up a bit.

The fantasy world was expecting Wieters to be called up sometime in early-to-mid June.  An early May call-up may now be a distinct possibility.  However, if they’re going to call him up before June — they might as well call him up as soon as he gets well.

Realistically, I don’t know why Trembley would have inside info.  I really can’t see him having any inside info on whether or not the Orioles are planning on saving some cash money by delaying Wieters’ arbitration.

Anyways,  I love me some Wieters but I think he’ll be handled with kids gloves.  He’s not going to go out and catch 90 percent of the O’s games out of the gate.  He’ll be a steal in head to head leagues, as he’ll be full-on raking by the time the playoffs roll around.

That’s about it, I’ll write up something tonite after the Jays vs. Rangers Game.

By the way, I’m taking the Jazz over the Lakers tonite on the Money Line. It’s just one of those feelings…
