Wow, I'd almost forgotten about this series. I already have the next 40 or so pitchers typed up and ready to roll. Anyways, I almost never factor Wins into the equation, but this years Yankees might be the exception to the rule.

Wang always seems to go deep enough into games to get crazy-solid Win totals, but the lack of strike-outs really hurt him. I think he's more of a 4.5K per 9, rather than a 5+ guy. It really depends on how much bite his slider has. This makes Wang a 2+ category guy -- WINS, ERA, with the possibility of WHIP (which floats around 1.30ish). While I agree that Wang is undervalued, I don't think he's within an ear-shot of Vazquez or Lester.

If you're going to go with Wang as one of your top-three starters, I think you gotta field at least one high-k / low-whip relief pitcher.

There is one thing that also sticks out like a sore thumb. Robbie Cano isn't the best fielding second baseman, Jeter has lost a step, and A-Rod's out for a bit. Yes, Texiera is one of the best fielding first basemen but I don't think he'll offset the rest of the infield. This is a problem when you're a sinker-baller like Wang.

Just from the short time reading your site I can tell you're a Yankee hater, but I won't hold that against you. What I don't understand is how you don't even rate Chien-Ming Wang in your list of starters. He doesn't strike out a ton of guys, but his WHIP ratio is pretty good (1.29 career). Now that he's got Sabathia and Burnett around him, he's no longer the supposed ace of the staff. I can see Wang winning 18 games this year with that lineup. He might strikeout 100 guys if he's healthy the whole year. He's not a top draft choice, but I would certainly take him over Lester or Javy Vasquez.
